Art Education
Teaching Philosophy
Art education plays a big role in who I am as an artist and human! I have both my bachelors and masters degree in Art Education as well as my teaching certification. Most recently, I've joined the world of online education and started teaching art classes through the Outschool platform. I love sharing my passion for art and beauty with my students. It is so fulfilling to see the students spark an interest in art and begin to use their imaginations and creative problem solving. I am a huge believer in helping to facilitate my students' passion for art. I do not believe in teaching "at" the student, but rather teaching "with". I encourage my students to come up with their own ideas and solutions. That being said, I also value the art of technique and craftsmanship. I feel that the more tools and techniques students are able to master, the more successful they will be creating their own masterpieces. Feel free to check out some of my YouTube lessons as well as the exhibitions and shows I've coordinated over the years. You can also see what lessons I will be teaching on Outschool by clicking the link next to my profile. Happy Art Day!!!

Michigan Art Education Association (MAEA)
I have been an active member of the MAEA since the beginning of my teaching career. I have served as a region liaison facilitating and organizing the regional exhibition. I have also presented at our state Fall conference multiple times. My presentation topics have included everything from survival of the first years of teaching to resources for adaptations for students with special needs. I love being a part of this amazing organization full of inspiring and talented art educators.
